9 Net winning trades, the road to being a Pro Trader?

Firstly this is not my Idea, someone else on this forum introduced me to it a while ago.

I brought it up and we had a recent discussion on another thread and I thought that maybe a thread of its own was in order.

It’s a great challenge in a number of ways, it inspires discipline, trade planning as well as goal setting, yet all of the usual % account balance risk arguments are irrelevant.

So here goes

The challenge is to turn £10 into £10,000 in 9 net winning trades
9 NWT examples

9 wins 0 losses
18 wins and 9 losses
30 wins and 21 losses
50 wins and 41 losses
150 wins and 141 losses

lets face it, if you aren't making 9 net winning trades then you are most probably losing anyway!

Trades are taken on a 2:1 Risk reward basis and 50% of the net winnings are risked on each trade
Each trade takes you one step forwards or backwards on the P&L Ladder, losing on the first trade means its game over and you are down £10

You can start with £50 & target 50K if you wish

Anyway I thought I would give it a go in 2017,

anyone else care to join me

I wont be posting entries, i'm not into trade calling, but will post results, and reasons for the trade when i can I suggest anyone else wanting to do it do the same.

We will just have to trust each other there's nothing to be gained by making up phony results

Results of an incomplete prediction method

I worked with a group of scientists who spend our spare time on quantitative finance researches. With the approaches in quantum entanglement and quantum field theories, significant progressions were made in 2014, and we have being forward testing it for more than one year. Here are a list of pros and cons of our current predication method:

Pro:
{C}1. The hit-rate of our predication is more than 70%.

Cons:
{C}1. The predication is only acquirable during specific market conditions. Thus in approximately one-third of trading days, we are unable to reach any predications.
{C}2. It is hard to make more than one predication per day due to limitations.
{C}3. The current method only predicts the direction of market, but not yet the volatility or daily-range.

We are going to post our daily predication and historical predictions. For example:

EU direction: short
0:00 am 10 am EST
Jan 04

EU means EURUSD; short means the price of EU at 10am is lower than the price at 0:00 am. If the price at 10 am is actually lower, the prediction is correct. Otherwise, the prediction is wrong.

NOTICE: The information provided by us should be strictly kept for academic only, NON-commercial use. We are not recommending any investment ideas, trading systems, or broker-dealers. Past accuracy does not guarantee future success. The publication of predication may negatively affect the accuracy.

Review: Zero to £1 Million. book James Smith.

Maybe it’s me but when I buy a tin of beans I expect to find beans in the tin...when I buy a packet of peas I expect to find peas in the packet.

Take for instance the book by James Smith titled...Zero to £1 Million.

Silly old me, I thought it would be a story in some detail about a trader who made and kept £1million quid from the markets.

Not so.

Does Jim Lad tell the reader how long it took him to reach that magic £1 million number...not a word.

What was Jim's biggest losing trade...not a word.

What was Jim's biggest winning trade...not a word.

What was Jim's average win to average loss ratio, not a word.

What was Jim's position sizing method, not a word.

How many trades did it take Jim to get to £1 million quid, not a word.

What was Jim's Sharp ratio, not a word.

What was Jim's longest drawdown period, not a word.

If ever there was a misleading title for a book, this is it.

Parents just won't get it

Ever since I've come home for good from university, I've had a lot of free time on my hands. I have constantly used this free time to study for and work on my trading skills, especially intra-day trading.

However my parents are really struggling to see where I'm coming from, they just see a lonely guy spending the majority of his days dressed in tracksuit bottoms staring at his computer screen. They think I am not doing anything productive, and should get a real job in the city or at least in a local pub/restaurant or something.

We argue frequently, with me explaining how if I worked in the day it would lead me to miss great trading opportunities. My goal is to join an investment bank/trading firm in the city. But I am not stupid, I know competition is fierce, degrees are worthless and the only way to land a job is to present them with a solid trading record, which will happen earlier if I can devote my time to it.

I will probably get an evening job to generate some cash flow, however the evening can present some astounding trading opportunities, but I guess I am not in a position to be picky as I could really do with a steady income.

I know it's not their fault. Times are very different these days, with global access to retail brokers earning a living from the markets has never been so accessible. It's just very difficult to explain how I am being productive on my computer, and that I am actually doing something.

Confusion!

Hi There
I am a fairly smart person mostly but I have been researching Trading for a while and I honestly don't think it's sinking in that well! I am not sure of the processes and I think many online courses deliberately confuse the participants so that they will part with more money to more indepth courses. I understand this is there business of course! I am just wondering if anyone knows of any very user friendly youtube videos that show how to place a basic trade?
