How do we follow big sellers/buyers

I often hear people say that price moves because there are more buyers than sellers (or vice versa). I also hear that "most traders are wrong".

There has to be a buyer for every seller. It’s not the number of buyers and sellers that matters, but rather with the number of shares that people want to buy/sell.

So, more buyers do not make price move up, rather when the number of shares that people want to buy at the current price exceeds the number of shares that people want to sell at the current price, the price will go up.

Ok, but how about the fact that most traders are wrong. Well, imagine the price moving up to a resistance point, it hits and then drops. What's happened here? All that's happened is the number of shares that people want to sell at that price exceeded the number of shares that people want to buy at that price - or rather, the majority "vote" wins.

If most traders are wrong, it means that there are a few big sellers (with lots of shares) going in the opposite direction to the large majority of smaller buyers.

So, how do we work out what the traders with a lot of shares will likely do?

As far as I understand it is almost impossible to trade in the forex market and not to lose but if you use scalping with a short stop or arbitrage, then the risk can be reduced to almost 0.

Wot Happens Next?

It's been a few years since the last Wot Happened Next series so thought I'd start another with slightly different twist. Changed "happened" to "happens" so we're looking forward. Interested in how TA might be used as a tool for trading (NOT as a predictor).

So, here we go. The instrument is Diageo (DGE). You will see from the weekly chart that price has made four failed attempts to close above the March high and has now done so. Also you will see from the daily chart that it has also closed above the earlier daily high closes although it has not challenged the intraday high reached on 17/5

How, then, would you plan to trade it?

Posting Trades

No trader in history has learned his craft without a mentor. I like to post real trades, and inspire-this is the latest from my website-it's all free, by the way.
Here’s the Plan

June FTSE expiries-19 days to go. Buy the 7625 call @22, sell 2 of the 7700calls @11.5– result small credit of 1. Buy the 7450 put@30.5,sell 2 of the 7350 puts @15, thus a small debit of 0.5. Overall more or less zero.

What’s the Point?

Unused margin no longer sits, idly losing value. Thinking that the market has run its course, (or perhaps not) we are thus positioned for moves either way. We realise profits as the market moves above 7625, or below 7450. Risk? what about the risk? This is the interesting part. With both sides the result is we own some options and have sold more. Ponder anew. We therefore own a spread, and potential value, along with some short options. Our 7625/7700 spread is locked in should the market go that way. Thus the 7450/7350 is too.

Where is the risk?….7775. The puts? Risk at….7250. Understood?

Max Reward

With a market drop our puts thus give 100, or subsequently on a rise, the calls give 75.

Football betting

It's any moons since I posted on T2W but, thought that my approach to footie trading may be useful to some. We've reached the end of the season and I've made a modest profit of 20%. I don't bet every Saturday but, limit my betting to those games that I feel are worth getting involved in.

My method is, usually, to bet on the correct score, either pre-kick off or, at half time, and trade out if I get into a 10% profit, or more, in any game. It's not foolproof but, it works OK. The "secret" (if there is one) is not to be greedy. Adding small, but regular profits does boost your account slowly but, surely. It's not foolproof but, overall, it works for me.

Terrorism. New approach !

Can something be done ?

YES YES YES

The current policy of just trying to capture the perpetrators isn't good enough.
Terrorist cells need nipping in the bud.
1.To do this many sting operations need to be mounted. Preferably by fellow muslims.
2. There should be a hotline for people who think they are being targeted by the extremists. They should be given anonymity and counselling. Preferably by fellow muslims who can see murder is wrong. The ring leaders would be put in jail.
3. For every death caused by terrorists there should be a doctrine of collective responsibility. So if say a Lybian is guilty of a killing, then the terrorist's family and friends should be sent back after paying compensation to the victims and their families. If their assetts are insufficient then the local mosque should be held responsible. The bomber will probably have committed suicide.

Trump may just have the balls to do something on these lines rather than accuse the wrong countries.
The Europeans haven't got what it takes as yet.

Eurodollar theory question

Hello everyone. Thank you in advance for your time.

I have a question about a Eurodollar strategy I'm thinking about. It is more of a top level question and not entry/exit type of question.

I was thinking about buying Eurodollar puts a year (or more) out between the 97.50 and 97.125 level. I would be spreading them out between Jun18 and Mar19. That would change as time goes on and I would stop buying in Jun18 and go further out than Mar19 as various contracts drop off.

At this time I don't have any real interest in trading contracts. I'm only looking to play with options.

What is the good/bad of this strategy? All thoughts are welcome.

Thank you again for your time.

Eddie

What to look out for this week

European markets remain much the same
Sterling slips on GDP drop and election concerns
Interesting times for the US Dollar
Canadian Dollar stronger on positive economic news

European markets remain much the same

There wasn’t much volatility this Bank Holiday Friday. European traders had time off for Ascension Day, leaving European markets fairly stable.
Sterling slips on GDP drop and election concerns

However, Sterling slipped on a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) downgrade, amidst fears that the incumbent parliament may not get the landslide victory they were expecting.

Sterling could be in for a bumpy ride again and is likely to move in the coming days, in the run up to the UK General Election, as pollsters and media discuss the strength of the various candidates and sways Sterling strength.
Interesting times for the US Dollar

In contrast, the US Dollar strengthened somewhat following the US Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) minutes, which suggested a US interest rate hike could be on the cards very soon. This was halted, however, by the news of the Federal Reserve’s proposed reduction in Quantitative Easing (QE).

US Q1 economic growth data showed less growth than expected and the slowest rate of growth since Q1 2016. This is certainly far removed from the market forecasts, which suggested that GDP growth would be revised upwards at 0.9 percent. These figures contrast with strong employment figures and GDP growth of 1.2 percent annually, compared to the previous month’s 0.7 percent.

Concerns are growing about the ability of the Trump administration to implement ambitious financial and economic reforms, designed to boost US business.
Canadian Dollar stronger on positive economic news

The Bank of Canada has kept their interest rates at the same level. strengthening the Canadian Dollar, alongside positive economic data and rising oil prices.
Chinese economic downgrade

China’s credit rating has been downgraded by ratings agency, Moody’s, for the first time since 1989, as well as amending the economic outlook to negative, as they predict a slowing of growth for the Asian powerhouse.
What will be the outcomes of the G7 meeting?

We also await the various communications from world leaders from the G7, which tend not to have too much of an impact on currency markets, but can hold insights into future policy and plans that may have more of an effect.

Watch out for currency volatility to protect against losses
In times of uncertainty and turbulence, it’s important to keep a close eye on exchange rate movements and consider your short-term currency risk management strategy carefully, as well as assessing longer term expectations.
What to look out for next week – and beyond…

Next week, at the very start of a new month, we have the global release of the Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Indices (PMI) on 1st June, always a useful indicator of economic clout. The Services PMI will follow on 5th June, also holding important insights on the strength of world economies, industry challenges and opportunities. Then we will have the much-discussed UK general election on 8th June, which is bound to cause market volatility.

Will volatility return?

Anybody think that we will see volatility on a daily basis return to the market? I put together a trading strategy based on average daily spreads (High less low, then divided by the open price) for a few different stocks and ETF's. In doing back testing and then real trading during the latter part of 2016, the strategy was extremely successful. But for 2017 (especially since April), volatility has almost disappeared and left me with about break-even results after annual triple digit returns for back testing for the past several years and on pace for triple digit gains with real trading in late 2016. What is keeping the daily spread so small and are there any signs that it might increase again sometime soon? Thanks.

Gold Price Analysis 26th May

Gold price is trading near to its watching zone as we discussed in the previous analysis. Gold is still trading in a range and forming a symmetric triangle on an hourly chart.
The beauty of symmetric triangle is, it always give handsome move after breaking the triangle range. We need to check it out either it will break support or the resistance to predict the movement.

t/a Market timing versus predicting roulette

How you predict which entry will be profitable and time the entry , is no better than trying to predict roulette numbers .Most beginner systems are about timing the entry , most beginners lose ,they are taught roulette predicting gambling.

Market timing is the strategy of making buy or sell decisions of financial assets (often stocks) by attempting to predict future market price movements.

Trading on the market shows that the most good results are achieved by combining the various trading systems. But finding a good system is not so easy.

Maybe we can share here some experience and results of using different trading systems?

bloomberg vs. reuter for stock quotes

I'm just starting to get back into technical anaylsis after a long break.
I am sure there's probably a simple answer to this for those who watch the markets closely.
I have checked a few stock quotes for certain stocks on both reuters and bloomberg. I notice the VOLUME is different. can someone tell me why this is?

FOR EXAMPLE:
for today (may 24) THE VOLUME TRADED for AT&T is as follows:
bloomberg: 15,645,676
reuters: 4,576,606

I have checked other stocks and it appears the volume is always much higher on bloomberg. why the difference? and if I am doing technical analysis with software, do I want the higher volume number of the lower volume number?

thanks

What you need to know about PayPoint ahead of tomorrow results

PayPoint PLC results coming out tomorrow and here are a few things I have learned from the company: -

1. Apart from last year, PayPoint has made ROCE of 40% plus in the last decade;

2. It consistently generates more cash profits than accounting profits. Over a 10-year period, this averages 26% higher;

3. Since 2005, its dividends payments totalled £182m is fully covered by free cash flow generation £255m;

4. The disposal of its online and mobile payment services raised £40m. At the same time, it is upgrading their Epos platform for the first time in 12 years.
It means PayPoint would need to invest substantial amounts of money for manufacturing because there are no upfront payment costs if retail agents were to upgrade their PayPoint system. Instead, there would be a milestone payment of £20 per week for the next two years.

Source: http://ift.tt/2rQJiGv

Analysts are expecting 63 pence per share earnings, this gives a forward-PE of 15 times.

What is the best forex trading software?

I’ve used Metatrader 4, metatrader 5, cTrader, Ninjatrader, Tradestation, SierraCharts and others. Some are more user friendly, some are more feature-rich, some are just easier on the eyes.
MT4 might be very user-friendly, but let’s face it: it’s charting features suck. I mean, try to draw or move a trend line and experience the pain. You know what I’m talking about.

Why so few women here ?

Why are there so few women trading and on these boards ?
1. Is it because they can't cope with losses or perhaps profits ?
2. Can't stand the banter ? They need not disclose they are female.
3. Find the humour disgusting or anti feminism ?
4. Too sensible to crouch over the monitor all day ?
5. Can't understand it ?

Or what

Love to hear from you ladies.

22nd May 2017 - Merkel could boost demand for the common currency

Merkel could underpin the single currency in the beginning of this new week by criticizing its strength.
Germany which has been opposing the ECB's QE is now putting more pressure on the ECB, while the economy is improving the inflation is rising up in EU.
Merkel's comments show that it is not preferred to watch the inflation rising up further with no action from ECB which can be in a critical situation.
Her comments which have given reason why the German surplus is rising can be read also as an alarm, After the data have show last week that Germany HICP and CPI of April were up yearly by 2%.
Last December, The ECB has already lowered its QE pace of buying to be Eur 60b monthly, instead of Eur 80b by the end of March, but it has extended this buying program to be till the end of this year by this new pace.
Apr EU CPI was up yearly by 1.9% as the same as the ECB's yearly target which is close but below 2%, while Apr EU core CPI rose by only 1.2% y/y which is its highest rate since June 2013.
The ECB is still explaining the inflation rising up by referring to the energy prices year on year increasing which can be transitory.
WTI average was around $30 in the first quarter of 2016, while the average of the first quarter of this year is around $50 because of implementing OPEC cut deal which is expected to be extended to the end of the first quarter of next year, after this week meeting in Vienna.

From another side, the Fed's steps to raise the interest rate are still making the investment in EU much more attractive option because of the low cost of EUR borrowing comparing with US.
UST 2yr note yield which is sensitive to the interest rate outlook over the short term is now at 1.28%, while Ger 2yr bund yield is at -0.69% showing how the ECB muteness is adding to the interest rate outlook differential
EURUSD has watched intermediate correction into this current ascending wave to 1.1075, before extending its rising to 1.1262 which has been reached earlier today.
EURUSD has previously made limited correction to 1.0838 on profit taking, after reaching 1.1020 following Macron's winning which dampened the political concerns in EU, while the political concerns in US are still rising.
EURUSD could succeed to keep existence above its daily SMA200 since its opening gap following the first round of the French elections
Before having this current rising up momentum, EURUSD could be underpinned by forming series of higher lows above 1.0339 which has been reached on the third day of this year to be the lowest level since December 2002.
EURUSD daily RSI-14 is referring now to existence inside the overbought region above 70 reading 72.509.
EURUSD daily Stochastic Oscillator (5, 3, 3) which is more sensitive to the volatility is still having its main line in the overbought region above 80 at 88.510 below its signal line which is at 90.236, but with no cutting leading to the downward yet.
EURUSD is in its fifth day of existence above its daily Parabolic SAR (step 0.02, maximum 0.2) which is reading today 1.0902.

Important levels: Daily SMA50 @ 1.0814, Daily SMA100 @ 1.0722 and Daily SMA200 @ 1.0792
S&R:
S1: 1.1075
S2: 1.0838
S3: 1.0681

R3: 1.1428

EURUSD maintains bullish bias to target 1.13

HI every body
I bought EURUSD based on this:

(sorry!!! i cant upload image and link will be removed)

EUR/USD maintains a bullish market structure, carving out higher highs and higher lows since bouncing off 1.0340 . The pair hit a fresh six-month high of 1.1211 last Friday but the rally stalled here as the market reached overbought levels. This was indicated by the RSI reaching 70.
Today’s move lower will eye support at 1.1100. A breakdown of this level would open the way towards 1.1000 and then target the 200-day moving average, currently around 1.0816. A firm break of this support would indicate a reversal in the medium-term uptrend that started from the January 3 low of 1.0340.
The sharp rise of the 50-day moving average, which looks like it is about to cross above the 200-day MA, is giving a strong bullish signal and is supportive of the medium-term bullish bias. A firm break above 1.1200 could see prices target the 1.1300 area.

Paper to real money

Hi

Seem to be caught in a never ending cycle of:
Backtesting systems, paper trade, move to real money - lose money - start over with a new system rinse repeat.

My current system has been consistently profitable for 10 weeks paper trading. So I've moved to real money and in 2 weeks I've just lost money. Placed stops - stuck to signal entry points and traded with the trend. No revenge trading which is a biggy for me and recorded every trade.

Very confused I don't know if it's me, my system, a losing streak in the system or what it is. Another pattern is that I'll start messing with the system adding extra filters ADX or stochastics.

Thing is if I carry on paper trading I'm never going to confront the emotional side of trading.

Thank you for reading.

Code help - Partnership offer

To all code writers out there...

We are looking for people with coding knowledge to join us in our Hertfordshire office to help us to backtest strategies and write Algo's.

I'm sure that there are some really good people here who can write code well but perhaps do not have a solid trading background and are perhaps lacking in ideas. Or maybe you have really good strategies but no means to fund a live account. We can help in either case because we want someone to come and sit in our office for free, do your own algo testing and help us with our testing as we have over 20 years of trading experience but no knowledge of writing code.

Our idea is that when we find strategies with a high probability setup, maybe ours or maybe yours, we will fund an account and run these live with your assistance and we will give you a good share of any profits. Then we can run these whilst looking for more strategies

We aren't selling anything and we don't want any money, we just need a code guru to join our team and be able to test a range of strategies which we are waiting to test.We will provide you with a top of the range computer setup and a nice office space, all free of charge.

Please get in touch if you are interested, I look forward to working together!

yearly fee vs. monthly fee data vendor

Hi,

is anyone aware of any reliable data vendors that charge a yearly (or bi-yearly) fee
for EOD data (metastock format)? or are there any? it's clear that 95 percent of the data vendors charge by the month only.

also, has anyone had any experience with DATABULL? they charge a flat yearly fee (I believe it is $60) but I can't find any reviews about them (good or bad). and I can't find any information as to whether they get their data straight from the exchanges or they use FREE SOURCES (such as yahoo finance or google finance).

thanks

USD/JPY: consolidating below 112.00, bearish

The USD/JPY pair remains in consolidative mode a few pips above the 111.00 figure, trapped between improved market sentiment and dollar’s persistent weakness. Stocks trade marginally higher in Asia and Europe, anticipating a positive opening for Wall Street. while yields are ticking higher, but still close to yearly lows. With the pair below 112.00, the risk remains towards the downside. in the wider view, chances of a decline towards 109.90 remain high, although not for this Friday, with little in the macroeconomic front, and market’s trading quietly.

Short term, the 4 hours chart shows that the price is stuck around a horizontal 200 SMA, whilst the 100 SMA also lost upward strength, but stands far above the current level, near 113.00. In the same chart, technical indicators have corrected the extreme oversold readings reached on Thursday, but lost upward strength within negative territory, and the RSI already turned south around 39, anticipating some further declines for today, particularly on a break below 111.00.

Support levels:

110.90 – 110.55 – 110.20
Resistance levels:

111.60 – 112.00 – 112.45

Isaco

ISACO is an outfit that will advise you on which Investment Funds to invest in.

They charge their clients £3000 per year for this information.

According to ISACO web site since Dec 31 1997 they have returned 149%.

How does this compare with a low cost SP500 Index Tracker Fund?

A well known SP Tracker Fund returned 270% with dividends over the same period.

BUT...keep in mind that anyone stupid enough to get involved is also out of pocket by £57,000 in yearly charges over this period.

Instead of giving ISACO £3000 per year our investor had added the £3000 per year to the SP500 Tracker, how much would that be worth now.

Around £130,000.

Taking ISACO's advice has cost our naive investor 120% in investment advice and £130,000 in investment fees.

Ouch, that's gotta hurt.

biased trade information processing

Processing trading information for trade set ups , execution and anylysis , distorts factual information , required for perfect execution , this leads to trading systems implementation errors .Traders usually find it difficult to trade systems due to stress ,emotions and beliefs , these lead to underperformance between expected results and actual performance.

A cognitive bias refers to the systematic pattern of deviation from norm or rationality in judgment, whereby inferences may be drawn in an illogical fashion. Individuals execute their own "subjective trading systems " from their perception of the actual trading system.

ArcelorMittal up 200% !

Hi, thought I would start a new thread on this, hope you can see the chart clearly.

I was actually long on this a few days before. Has anyone seen a major share like this triple like this before? Anyone know why this happened? As I understand the earnings report was days before.

Nothing much in the news. Not even on the company's twitter.
And yet it's a remarkable move, don't you think?

Kainos Group a software firm you can trust?

Kainos Group has been listed on the market for two years at £1.35 per share. Now trading around £2.60 per share. The listing has made 9 millionaires for the owners and senior managers.

Looking towards their next report (end of May), they haven't given much detail away (apart from saying they are trading in-line with expectations), but might have let something in their latest trading update. That is Kainos has recruited 216 new staff since April 2016, which is a 25% increase. From my research, I have evaluated the revenue per staff growing from £81k to £104k in three years. Similarly, profit per staff rose from £10k to £19k.
So, using conservative estimates of £105,000 sales per staff and £20k profit per staff, then my forecast for Kainos Group’s 2017 is:
A. An approximate revenue of £102m from £76.6m;
B. And operating profit close to £20m from £14.2m.
These are impressive estimates and we will see by the end of this month.

A way to trade Forex that works for me

Hi,

I've been trading Forex, stocks, futures and many commodities for several years, sometimes losing, sometimes winning. After several years I can't predict the market BUT I know what works for me and maybe it could work for you.

1. Trade mid term -> For me, short term is not an option due to my actual job. Long term makes me feel out of the market and I feel I'm losing reinvestment opportunities every week. So, mid-term is key for me.

2. Always set up an entry point, a take profits and a Stop Loss -> I never change them. I only increase stop loss if a new low has been made and after that a new high happened, that makes me feel comfortable enough to update the stop loss.

3. Winner set-up -> I write in an excel spreadsheet all the important things. Resistances, supports, trendlines, major news coming soon and so on. If most of them are aligned with my direction, I trade.

4. Share my strategy in Zulutrade -> This way they track my performance and I've added pressure to keep doing the strategy in a safe way. I try to avoid passionate trades or trades decided in less than 1 week. To be sure that I'm doing well I check my ratings in Zulu4me, those guys analyze all zulutrade traders and rate them. I'm not a top from zulu4me point of view, mostly due to my short track record (<2y)

5. DIVERSIFY -> I usually trade 3-4 currencies as much uncorrelated as possible. Furthermore, now I'm copying other top guys from Zulu4me. So, I'm not only diversifying currencies but also DIVERSIFYING STRATEGIES!

6. Don't read news -> That makes me feel uncomfortable because you can always find good and bad news, so I only read charts.

This is what worked for me for the past 2 years. Now, what do you think I can still improve?

Regards,

profit / loss at expiry if price closed below, above or at breakeven point

hello fellows,

I`m new here and to trading, I`m intrested in selling European indices options (DAX.FTSE.CAC.EuroNXT50 ). but I can`t understand how profit and loss is calculated at expiry if price closed near to break-even point , I hop someone helps
me here;
suppose for example I sell deep ITM put at strike price 12760 on the DAX (will expire today at market close) for a premium of 144.2 .my beak-even point is 12615.8
how much of the premium I will keep if the position expired at 12616.8 just one point above my break even point . will I keep all the 144.2 premium, or my profit depends on how close the closed price is close to break even point ?

thanks for your response in advance:

Acanthe Developpement

http://ift.tt/2pSR6dw

Acanthe Developpement SE currently has a yearly EPS of 0.42. This number is derived from the total net income divided by shares outstanding. In other words, EPS reveals how profitable a company is on a share owner basis.

Another indicator we can look at to determine the profitability of the company is the Price to Earnings ratio, or P/E ratio. Acanthe Developpement SE (ACAN) has a current P/E ratio of 7.79. This ratio reveals what the market is willing to pay for a given stock based on the firm’s current earnings. It’s a useful tool for helping determine if the stock is fairly price, overvalued or undervalued. The formula to arrive at a P/E ratio is simply dividing the market value price per share by earnings per share.

Ban all hindsight traders

Firstly because anyone can make a claim after the event "the stocks I am losing on is are dow "buy on dip stocks" , after the event , but the stock which goes in the profit on anyone's account are posted with profits .

He say I got 50 with his set set up , but he no say he losing 600 , because he say "long term investment = me Warren Buffett"

Under the constituition I ask these hindsight results traders to be banned , unless they can post 5 consecutive FORESIGHT TRADES , 1 day in advance.

The hindsight traders do no justice to the members , because of the fallacy of their trades,

This was a shocking video...

As a leaner trader (total noobie) Ive been researching how to trade and what type of trader I want to be, I was so sure Id like to eventually be a day trader but thought Id continue to research. Im currently reading "How to be successful in stocks" and soon became overwhelmed so took a break but didnt want to waste time so thought Id see what I could find on youtube and found on my recommended list a clip by "Anton Kreil".

After watching and listening to the vid 4 times over (too much to take in at once) I got the feeling its incredibly difficult to be a day trader, Id very much welcome any opinions on this as Im new and need all the help I can get.

How does a firm like Top Step Trader work

Hi,

I was hoping someone would have an idea how a company like Top Step Trader works. They are not regulated because you don't need to have a series 53 License. How are they able to supply you with their capital. And how would they use a clearing brokerage. I am curious how this company operates. They are based in Chicago. Any information would be great. Thank you

Queries/Observations of a noob.

Hi All,

So I have started a demo account primarily with FXCM (happy for suggestions on better apps etc). There are a few things i find odd with FX trading etc(previously have done stock trading).

1. Balance/Equity in the app. On a demo account you start with 5k which is simple enough. However, as you can see on them image, I have managed to buy 6k of NZD/USD (at 0.68367 and 0.68508), and 1K of USD/CAD (at 1.35549). All of that adds up to more than £5,000 so I shouldn't of been able to allowed to buy that much surely? As in my head I am doing (5k x 0.68367) + (1k x 0.68508) + (1k x1.35549) which comes to more than 5k. Also as an experiment I just started buying even more at 5k and it didn't stop me once. So I found this very odd? As I expected by 5k balance to reduce by the amount I had bought and then tell me a p/l on that trade etc.

So what I actually assume is, I am not actually buying the 5k lots, I am merely taking the risk as if I was. So instead of risk being 1:1 i am essentially making it 1:5 and each pip movement will be exaggerated by 5. Thus the risk increase and you can either lose your money faster or make more profit.

2. 'Usable Margin'. It says my usable margin is around about 98% however, again based off of my thoughts above this should be something very small if not a negative number. So how should I be thinking of this?

I understand these will all be of a mind set. I'm an accountant, so I'm used to seeing debits and credits and seeing one baalnce reduce and one increase etc. However, at this minute in time, nothing is decreasing regardless of what I purchase.

Any help would be helpful, as clearly I still have my accounting head on!

One final query. A lot of apps say, you can lose more equity than you deposit. Surely if you make losses that exceed your balance the positions will all close and it will just be 0 in your account?

Any recommendations on what apps for trading would be greatly appreciated!

thanks,

P.s Understand I sound a complete noob.

16th May 2017 - Trump's troubles dampened the greenback

The political ascending tension in US could have its toll on the greenback driving EURUSD to have a higher place above 1.11 during the Asian session.
after it could raise the demand for safe assets, as FBI former remote Director James Comey has said that Trump asked him Comey to drop an investigation into former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.
Closing the case of Flynn closes as well the investigations about Trump's campaign relation to Russia.
Comey has figured out this point, after released report from the CIA about Trump's sharing of terrorism intelligence classified information with Russia.
Trump became really in a defending situation receiving hits from everywhere, after his decision to fire Comey who has dampened Hillary Clinton campaign by announcing days before the US presidential election that her email usage for sending classified information is still under investigations.
The media in US is keeping amplifying this case adding risk to the political situation in US, as the result of this tension cannot be in the benefit of this situation.
The safe haven assets could aggregate demand again sending XAUUSD above its daily SMA200 again to be traded now close to $1245, after forming a higher bottom at $1214.23 above its previous formed bottom at $1194.91 on last Mar. 10.
With this worrying market sentiment, the Japanese yen could be the most buoyed currency.
As this low yield financing currency could be supported by unwinding of the carry trades as usual putting further pressure on Nikkei 225 major exporting companies.
After S&P 500 lost 1.65 closing at 2400.67 following recording new all times high at 2405.77, while UST 10 years note yield came down by 0.02% to 2.33%

USDJPY daily RSI-14 is referring now to existence inside its neutral territory reading 52.283.
USDJPY daily Stochastic Oscillator (5, 3, 3) which is more sensitive to the volatility is having now its main line also in its oversold region below 20 at 19.081 leading to the downside its signal line which is still existing in the neutral region at 39.556.

Metastock Explorer Help!!

Hello everyone I was wondering if you can assist in creating an explorer that would provide Daily S/R levels (duration 4 weeks including current week) and
Weekly S/R levels (duration 6 months including current month).

I also would like an explorer showing instruments that are in a trading range for same periods mentioned above.

For both explorers would like to see those levels of S/R in the explorer columns.

Thank you in advance and hope for an expert reply.

Question: Gaps

Hi everyone,

I am learning technical analysis and would like to ask about Gaps.

I'm currently trading the Philippine stock market and my resources are all books that tackle the US or EU stock market. Here in the Philippine stockmarket, they are wary about "filling the gap". This means that when a stock gaps up, lets say jumps from 10 per share to 11 per share (creating a gap in between), there would come a time that the stock would go down to the gap between 10 to 11 thus filling the gap.

I asked this because

1) If "filling the gap" is indeed always happening then breakaway gaps are more of a bearish omen rather than a bullish one.

2) How do you know if its a breakaway gap or an exhaustion gap?

3) What does gap tell you in your market?

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance :)

Question: Gaps

RSI Vs MACD Question

Hello everyone,

I read somewhere that MACD is best used in a trending stock (uptrend or downtrend) while RSI is best used in a consolidating stock (trading sideways). Is this true or not?

Here are some of my thoughts,
1) RSI is basically useless in a trending stock because it would hit oversold (70 lvl) when the stock would actually go higher

2) MACD is bad in a consolidating stock because it utilizes MA, and when in a flat chart the MA are also not moving alot.

Your thoughts on these are highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance :cheesy:

Custom scanner

Hello traders,

Looking for someone who can build custom scanner.
I will explain on chart what I mean and soft/script need to find those stocks.

It can be done with custom soft

Is there anyone else or you know someone who specialize in such things?

Thanks

backtesting software

Hi Guys

New to the forum and hoping to get some direction on finding some sort of software that can help with backtesting strategies effectively and efficiently (eg. Support/Resistance) without the knowledge of coding.

Currently I am manually backtesting and its taking way too much time - however I can appreciate that this would give me much needed screen experience.

I find it difficult to add new paramaters and have to re-do the whole 3-5 years worth of backtesting to fine tune strategies.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

1Spatial, a business for employees

1Spatial is a phoenix rising from the ashes with its extraordinary sales growth. But the problem is it never made a penny in profit for shareholders.
One obvious reason with most “techies” is the cost of hiring to find talent proves expensive. Although I regard the firm ability to find new businesses, it’s an employee-base business.
Think of Premier League Football where the players get all the dough, but leaves the club (vis-à-vis Billionaires owners) with the losses.

Contrarian Retail sentiment trading

Are there any traders on the site that use SSI as a trading basis? or any newer traders that would like to learn the style? It's not my main trading style but I will usually take a small handful of SSI trades a month mainly on a 4H or daily you can basically just check the charts and the sentiment once a day 30 mins maybe: (see image below) Basically it involves fading the retail sector but its more than just that: price structure, fundamental backdrop, COT, Price action etc all play a part. Its an interesting style with a good rationale (basicaly trading with the smart money). I'm not doing this to teach anything but just to create conversations and stimulate discussions on the markets if anyones interested just post if not the thread will soon be relegated to the bottom of the page

15th May 2017 - The gold is trying to maintain a place again above its daily SMA100

The concerns of watching depleting inflation pressure in US could dampen the interest rate outlook, after Apr US CPI has shown by the end of last week rising yearly by only 2.2%, while the median forecast was referring to increasing by 2.3% after rising in March by 2.4% year on year.
US 10-year Treasury note yield slipped 0.06% to 2.32% last Friday following the release of this figure which makes the Fed in no rush to raise the interest rate to contain the price upside pressure.
The FOMC has already weakened the odds of raising rates by highlighting the lower than expected US GDP annualized expansion in the first quarter by only 0.7% in its economic assessment following the committee members meeting on May. 3.
But The committee has suggested that lower than expected expansion can be transitory expecting upward revision of this dovish reading and also better growth rate later this year underpinned by the labor market continued improving which supports the inflation outlook to reach The Fed's 2% yearly target.
The gold could get use of the lower interest rate outlook in US and also could be boosted by North Korea missile test during the weekend.

After finding bottom to rebound at $1214.23, the Gold could creep up to be traded just above $1230 to find a place again above its daily SMA100, but it is still undermined over longer term by continued existence below its daily its daily SMA200.
XAUUSD is still also below its daily Parabolic SAR (step 0.02, maximum 0.2) which is reading today $1233.55 in its 16th day of being above the trading rate.
The gold has been exposed to selling off drove it down below $1239.62 per ounce supporting level which could prop it up previously on Mar. 31.
the gold lived in overlapping price range of the upside wave from $1180.51 to $1263.85 undermining the ascending channel, but it could hardly have a higher low at $1214.23 above its previous formed bottom at $1194.91 on last Mar. 10.
XAUUSD daily RSI-14 is now referring to existence at a higher place inside its neutral area reading 40.423.
XAUUSD daily Stochastic Oscillator (5, 3, 3) which is more sensitive to the volatility is having now its main line in its neutral region at 64.872 leading to the upside its signal line which is in the same territory at 42.824, after bottoming out inside its oversold region below 20.

How did you actually learn trading?

How did you guys actually learn trading?

Ex. Did you guys read a specific few books/ watch videos on technical analysis and then try and see if you could identify patterns paper trading?

I am just perplexed as to how I really start with self education and practice, as when I look at something I feel as if I am jumping all over the place and accomplishing nothing.

I plan on day trading stocks eventually (I have the $25k required+ some extra and enough for living expenses for a bit.) Basically I am screwed at this point and need to essentially go back to school for any sort of career I may enjoy, so I figured delaying to attempt something I believe I will enjoy and potentially losing a sum of money that isn't enough to do anything meaningful with won't really be too much of an issue. Not expecting to make a large sum, just develop consistency, maybe then join a prop firm, etc.

Scammed by gkfx after fulfilling bonus they confiscated it back

I have used gkfx for quite a while. actually back a few years ago i lost a lot of money trading eur/aud around -40k loss. I was quite shocked but okay perhaps it was my fault.
but recently they held a promotion for a £15000 deposit bonus with a requirement of £2 spreadbet for every £3 bonus. i fulfilled the terms of the bonus and did the trades. They then converted the bonus into cash. a few weeks later when i needed a withdrawal they suddenly confiscated my bonus funds saying my trades were not at peak times with enough risk for them so they have a right to confiscate my bonus. The trades were held for at least around 2 minutes and were not scalping I was shocked that a large forex broker could fathom doing this which is totally illegal.
It seems like because they are counter party to the trade they hope clients will take massive risks and loose there money fast and gkfx will pocket it. so if one does not take the risk they desire they feel that they can confiscate the bonus. If they would specify how much risk one needs to take (i don't know how they would do that though) in the terms and conditions then that would be fine as they can choose any clause they wish if it is clear.
I therefore have no other option but to make a court case here so the general public can vote. If anyone needs more details please pm me and if the nature of the question is nothing personnel i can provide a response.

I do hope that it is not in gkfx best interest to have negative publicity and will remove this case as soon as gkfx rectifies what they have done.

kind regards
